Isn't it so like us that not a week or two after our holiday trips/vacations/excursions have wrapped, we're dreaming of how to break the bonds of everyday-ness and go somewhere else (budgets be damned). We realize we're not special -- isn't everyone always plotting their next getaway? Everyone? Hello? We're guessing yes, whether people 'fess up or not.
Travel Night, hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, especially appeals. First off, it is a mini, midweek getaway to the LA Zoo (the chorus of bird-y squawks and elephant calls already makes us feel faraway from the car horns and stress-y city life). And the raison d'etre for Travel Night -- the discussion of where GLAZA is headed this year -- thrills. The trips are truly glorious: expansive Kenyan adventures and a safari to Botswana, Zambia and South Africa are on the schedule to be discussed.
The night is free (call for reservations: 323-644-4792). We'd only make the teensy suggestion that the nice zoo people take us for a quick spin by the koala area. Because '09 is needing a major dose of cuddly koala-ness at the moment (and we know we're not alone on that one...).
