T-Rex Attacks Children at LA Museum

It's safe to say some children in the Southland will be having nightmares Thursday night.

No, it's not the latest movie in the "Night at the Museum" franchise. It's part of Dinosaur Encounters, a new program at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, which introduces visitors to two life-sized juvenile dinosaur puppets -- a 14-foot Tyrannosaurus rex and a 9-foot Triceratops.

While some children enjoyed the show, others experienced a new level of terror as they clutched their parental figures praying to God that a giant dinosaur wouldn't eat them.

That's not to say you shouldn't take your child -- just be sure they're aware the dinosaurs are not real.

And if that doesn't work, be sure to bring extra diapers.

The real gem of the presentation was when a brave little boy named David put on a meat costume and dared the T-Rex to have a snack.

Dinosaur Encounters runs Wednesday through Friday, 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., and weekends at 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

Encounters is located in the North American Mammal Hall on Level 2, and is free with general museum admission.
