Hero Complex is reporting that the LA Times Saturday edition had a no-way-not-even!!! extra for young vampires: a huge "Twilight" poster inside. Missed it? HC predicts that they'll be floating around online. To Google!
"Twilight" mania has been building in all sorts of ways, but this particular one charms. Maybe it is because we haven't really given much thought to posters in awhile -- there's some law that you have to frame complicated prints of sad-eyed harlequins once you're over 18 -- and they just seem so sweet and Leif Garrett-y. And with moms pre-loving this movie as much as daughters, we're thinking it is a-okay for the posters to go up in the parentals' room as well. What, a mother can't make doe-eyes at Robert Pattinson on occasion? Don't be mean.
So we're thinking two things. One, the rest of this week is going to be "Twilight"-ed out. If you haven't gotten tickets, complete sell-outs are being reported; best start looking into 'em now. (We predict there will be a screening somewhere in LA, oh, every 4.7 nanoseconds.)
And the other thought: Movie companies should invest in more complimentary posters inside the LA Times. Just like the "My Dinner with Andre" action figure in "Waiting for Guffman," why couldn't some serious Oscar contenders have a snazzy poster made for hanging over a canopy bed or in the rec room? We smell a major marketing opportunity here.
Waiting to see what "Twilight" Tuesday will bring...
