IMPROV-ICE: It seems as if musicians are branching out from traditional stage performance more and more, opting to play alongside live movie screenings or fireworks shows. The Goo Goo Dolls are doing just that tonight at Improv-Ice at Honda Center. There's ice, as the title says -- Sasha Cohen, Brian Boitano, and Kristi Yamaguchi will be there, plus other skating stars -- and there's music. We like the frosty-fierce mash-up. 7:30PM
JERRY BECK'S SPOOKTACULAR: Halloween-themed pop culture is in no way a new phenomenon; cartoons were loving/lampooning the holiday since film was invented, practically. Cinema smartie Jerry Beck has a whole heck of a lot of haunting cartoons, including the Looney Tunes, Popeye, and Casper. Casper's friendly, right? Silent Movie Theatre, 8PM
ALSO: Author Nick Hornby is at the Skirball Center; LA's own Breakestra plays El Rey; and Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3 are at Spaceland.
