23,000+ Bunnies, and You

One of LA's most famous home museums preps.

Pasadena's Bunny Museum has become such a Southern California legend -- and, with news crews continually showing up from abroad, we'll also say the wider world -- that it can be hard to find people who haven't heard of it.

Because you've heard there is an offbeat attraction in Pasadena that holds over 23,000 bunny-based dolls and figurines and artifacts. That it is actually a private home. That it is open on holidays, for free (but you can donate, if you wish). That there is a clutch of real rabbits on the property.

Did you just grasp the number 23,000+? Do you need to see pictures as proof?

And you likely know that Candace Frazee and Steve Lubanski have been collecting rabbity things for years and years. We just rang Candace, realizing this'll be a very busy week for her, to inquire about Easter hours. The Bunny Museum'll be open from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 4.

But surprise: Candace says that Easter is not her biggest day of the year. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween are all busier. However, she says both AP and Reuters are working on stories, so bet you'll see plenty of people wandering the house on the holiday.

There are a few dos and don'ts for the Bunny Museum -- it is a private home, remember -- so check 'em out before you go. And note that the real rabbits welcome vegetable donations, sans carrots.
