Let's Be Frank (or Emulate Him for a Night)

Years ago, we received a postcard that said "It's Frank's world; we just live in it." We like to live by that rule, and will do so tonight as The Room Hollywood honors Mr. Frank Sinatra, the golden-voiced boy who was born in Hoboken and went on to rule the world. The timing of the party couldn't be more right on, happening the eve of Ol' Blue Eyes birthday (the singer passed away in 1998); expect the mood to be stylish, swinging and celebratory.

If you've got some especially "Ocean's Eleven"-ish duds -- that's the original O/11, not the Clooney-Pitt take -- don 'em before you go; the club is asking that attendees dress to the nines. So think skinny ties in basic, gentlemanly colors, a well-cut suit, and, for the ladies, a pinafore with a full, "Mad Men"-inspired skirt. Cologne it up, and break out the Brylcreem. Have a pocket hanky? Iron it.

Music on the hi-fi will likely be by the Chairman of the Board himself -- we can't help but choke up when hearing "It Was a Very Good Year" -- or born of the era when Frank ruled Vegas and Sammy, Dean, Joey, and Peter were along for the uproarious ride.

With the "Louis & Keely: Live at the Sahara" tribute show also playing, things around LA have become downright vintage-y Las Vegas; we half want to install an orange shag rug (think a Strip hotel circa 1973) and some gold-veined mirrors. And wear a little spangly cocktail waitress leotard around the apartment. Well, why not? It's a free country. And it's Frank's world.
