Snowflake Spotted in Beverly Hills

A massive, giant snowflake, that is.

Those twinkly, hanging-high-above Rodeo Baccarat chandeliers and their protective boxes have been stowed for 2009, but Beverly Hills is still doing it up for the holidays.

How, in particular? By displaying that massive, shiny snowflake above the Beverly Wilshire hotel. One look at that dazzler and you know you're clearly not just at any ho-hum, holiday-themed, flip-the-switch lighting, oh no; this is the B.H., and the fizziest few weeks of the year here have a pop that could rival a champagne cork.

The switch-flipping is happening Saturday, November 21st, along with singing from The Madrigals, a choir from Beverly Hills High. There will be a snowfall at Two Rodeo, and carolers, and Santa, and caricature artists caricaturing away. Everything starts up at 7PM, although Montblanc is throwing a pre-snowflake shindig from 4-7PM. The snowflake commemorates UNICEF, which is nice, and we should all remember that as we look upon its snowflakity.

The party, by the way, is free to all.

Ending the party is a giant fireworks show above the Beverly Wilshire hotel. We've always been cheered how Beverly Hills, a city that's already frilled-out, ups the frill quotient at Christmas. The banners say "Deck the Hills" and they aren't kidding.
