IT'S MAGIC: The 100th birthday of the Lane Mansion -- the mysterious house that the Magic Castle has called home for several decades -- received our best wishes. Now, like the bunny that reappears after the top hat has been stowed, the Castle's back for one more surprise, this time at the Kodak Theatre. Lance Burton, Neil Patrick Harris and a coterie of illusionists will be now-you-see-it-ing, no-you-don't-ing. Sunday, November 8th
IT'S A MOD, MOD, MOD, MOD CITY: The LA Conservancy is celebrating its new '60s-loving site with a self-driving tour. You like buildings like the Theme, that straight-from-the-cosmos centerpiece to LAX, yes? You'll be able to go on the observation deck. LA Conservancy says this hasn't happened in nearly a decade. What's '60s-speak for "cool"? Oh, right. Cool. Sunday, November 8th
SPEAKEASY: Fancy, swooped-up 'dos covered in sparkly pins. Gents in pinstripes. And cocktails flowing from shiny damp shakers. It's a true throwback to the live-it-up era, the Renaissance Hotel is the location, and K&L Wine and drink:eat:play are the people behind the little door with the tiny, sliding window. Saturday, November 7th
DOWNTOWN BURBANK FINE ARTS FESTIVAL: San Fernando's bidding adieu to cars for the day and welcoming walkers to check out paintings, prints, clothing, and other items that might look nice on your wall or in a friend's stocking this December. The fest says some 100+ artists will be displaying. Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November 8th
CONCERTS: Jay-Z's at Pauley Pavilion on November 8th; Anita Baker is at Nokia Theatre on November 7th; Vicente Fernandez plays a three-night series at Gibson Amphitheatre (November 6th-8th); Celtic Thunder is at Nokia Theatre on November 8th; and Lang Lang takes the stage at Walt Disney Concert Hall on November 8th.
