MENORAH LIGHTINGS: Hollywood & Highland celebrates Hanukkah with a lighting of its menorah, which is made of ice; Congregation Kol Ami hosts (there are treats and family-centered events, too.) Monday, December 21, 6PM. Free. Hollywood & Highland, 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood. And the Third Street Promenade, as part of its seasonal Winterlit celebration, lights its menorah each night at sundown. Find the festivities in the 1200 block of the pedestrian strollway, near Third Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, Santa Monica.
SWING, SWING, SWING: The season always puts some tap in the foot, so we might as well give into it, and do it in a splashy way. The Count Basie Orchestra wants to help facilitate our dancing feet with a big-band-y holiday show at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Really, can you imagine the brassy, joyful thunder inside those hallowed walls? The ushers may have to tell us to return to our seats after we jump up to take to the aisles... Monday, December 22, 8PM. $28-$82. Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles. 213-972-7211
"WICKED" WRAPS UP FINAL WEEKS: Can you believe "Wicked" will be closing soon? Neither can we. We have friends who have seen it multiple times -- we mean multiple -- and other friends who have expected it to stay around forever, and so they'll catch it when there's time. Forever is short, and the hit musical closes on January 11. Maybe your out-of-towners this week would enjoy? Pantages Theatre, 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood. 323-468-1770
