GRUNION SAY GOODBYE: Well, soon. And "say" is a stretch. The wriggly fishes, known for sliding onto the beach to spawn around full and new moons, are wrapping their season, which runs from March to August. The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium holds its final Meet the Grunion night for '09. There's a program prior to heading down to the water; that's at 9PM, and should lend deep background on the aquatic wonders.

PHILIP GLASS AND "KOYAANISQATSI": In terms of groundbreaking scores paired, hand-in-glove, with groundbreaking films, this marriage is it. The zenith. A crowning glory. It has been shown all over, in just about every Cinema 101 class, every art house, on PBS. See it again, under the stars, with the composer in person, and the movie on the big screen, at the Hollywood Bowl. Interesting: The music will have a fresh spin. 8PM

THE BLASTERS: You play in a band. You sing. You shimmy with a tambourine next to the drum set. Your thing: rockabilly, punk, straight-up rootsy rock. If you started your musical journey any time in the last three decades, you likely owe a high five or a hearty double thumbs up to this group. Still sounding very, very tight indeed. Levitt Pavilion, Pasadena, 8PM
