7/7: David Lynch, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse

"DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL" SIGNING: Perhaps you've been by The Michael Kohn Gallery for a look/listen at the strange show thunk up by no less than David Lynch, Danger Mouse, and Sparklehorse. A vision of green shag rug is sticking to the side of our mind's eye. You too? Better get to Book Soup, for a signing of the show's book. Mr. Lynch, Mr. Mouse, and a certain equine-y band will be in attendance. Bet tons of people will be there. 8PM

THE HOLD STEADY: People are just looking for good rock. Good rocking. They're longing for it. Demanding it. The Hold Steady delivers in a no-fuss, no sprinkled-jimmies-on-top kind of way. Leaves more room for the solid rocking. Plus, they're from Minneapolis, which certainly turns out the artists: Garrison Keillor, MST3K, Diablo Cody... El Rey, 8PM

YES WITH ASIA: And speaking of very fine rocking to be done: Two prog-y supergroups have paired up and hit the road to deliver hits like "I've Seen All Good People" and "Heat of the Moment" to all those many fans. We've always been about "Roundabout" ourselves. The long song with the keyboard-y jams: yes. Gibson Amphitheatre, 7:45PM
