EVEREST & RED CORTEZ: The Hammer Museum's free free free Thursday night series -- call it Also I Like to Rock -- enjoys its second 2009 outing, courtesy of Everest & Red Cortez. Everest is fresh off Bonnaroo. Now that's big, like a mountain. Red Cortez is summer-night punky fun. Park for $3 under the museum. Party's at 8.

DO YOU HEAR ME? You do care. Missing Persons, ABC, Berlin with Ms. Terri Nunn, Dance-hallin' Wang Chung and The Cutting Crew are on the 106.7 KROQ Regeneration Tour, and they're headed, carrying trunks and bags brimming with '80s-style ear candy, for Gibson Amphitheatre. ABC! "Be Near Me" still has effervescence. 7:15PM

GRUNION THINK ABOUT WRAPPING '09 SEASON: Well, probably the grunion are thinking about spawning and swimming and all the things that little fish think about. But there are only a couple of "Meet the Grunion" nights left at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium for this grunion run. Tonight's one of 'em; things begin at 8.
