COLDPLAY, ALICIA KEYS, NKOTB: The American Music Awards, that pop-pretty homage from Dick Clark Production, rolls again with a major roster of stars -- some performing, some waving shyly from the audience, some doing look-at-me twirls on the red carpet. It's like a big, smiley family reunion of a lot of people who just happen to have incredible pipes. Sunday, November 23, 5PM. Nokia Theatre, 777 Chick Hearn Court, Los Angeles.
DOLLS DISH UP SPICE: So it's actually more early evening, but that just gets us home in time for the AMAs. It's the LA Derby Dolls Chili Cook-off Fundraiser, being held at La Cita's (and not the main rink). Several different chilis will be up for tasting, and everyone gets to vote for a winner. How hot do you like it? Sunday, November 23, 3-6PM. $10. La Cita's El Patio, 336 S. Hill Street, Los Angeles.
MAXWELL DEMILLE'S CICADA CLUB: Fabulous, 1920s-style debauchery in the gorgeous Oviatt Building, presided over by Mr. Maxwell DeMille, gentleman host extraordinaire. On tap: Richard Halpern's Roaring Twenties Revue. Mr. Halpern, also a well-known Austin Powers impersonator around town, is an ace performer; we've seen, and applaud, his Austin. Sunday, November 23, 6PM Doors. No cover. Oviatt Building, 617 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles. 213-488-9488
