Your job: Get to the restaurant. Our job: Help you order. This week, NBCLA's Eat This journey takes us out for...

KCRW'S 1st Annual Good Food Pie Contest: A crumb-filled two hours involving some 150 pies submitted by bakers from around Southern California, plus a fork-wielding cavalcade of foodie judges and you, ready to sample away.

Cost to you to try pie: Free

How this whole bake-y extravaganza started: Evan Kleinman, host of KCRW's Good Food, started making a pie every day a few months back. Soon pie was in people's ether, haunting their dreams, filling their mind with sugary fumes. And the contest came together.

Time/date/place: 2-4PM, Saturday, November 14th, the Canyon Atrium at Westfield Topanga

Can you enter your favorite pastry? Registration is closed, but you are welcome to stop by and taste at no charge. Harriet at KCRW kindly did the math for us: 150 pies have been entered. Those pies will be sliced into eights, with a couple of slices from each saved for the judges. That's a lot of pastry to go around.

The judges: Mark Peel of Campanile and Russ Parsons of LA Times are on the panel of crust-smart notables.

Pie we want to eye: Anything involving bacon and maple, or some unusual form of savory and sweet. We'll also take a basic apple. Wait. Apple-bacon-maple. Yes.
