It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's… The Bustaurant!

Restaurant in a bus comes to LA

Roach coaches beware! Portable dining in LA (read: the food truck craze) will be taking a new twist with the pending arrival of the Bustaurant to local streets.

A restaurant in a bus? Indeed. This movable feast features a full kitchen inside, with patron seating available atop the vehicle (view varies depending on where the bus is parked). The international menu will be crafted by Worldfare Chef Andi Van Willigan, Executive Sous Chef from the Michael Mina Group and Hell’s Kitchen. According to Worldfare, the food will be “gourmet seasonal food with a street twist,” designed to take global dishes and make them accessible to patrons throughout the city.

The Bustaurant is modeled after a similar concept in London, where a retired double-decker London bus has been traveling the streets as a proper restaurant serving up vegan fare such as panissa (fried chickpea puree), savory bean “burgers,” and vegan lasagna since 2006.
