Restaurant Week, Meet Autumn

Can Restaurant Week somehow -- fingers crossed, saying a silent wish, jumping over a spatula three times while thinking of eggs Sardou -- morph into Restaurant Year? Okay, maybe not. But Restaurant Month isn't *that* out of the question. We're thinking.

After all, this formerly once-and-awhile, and then increasingly lots-in-awhile, event is heartily welcomed in foodie corners. Heartily. And that it is making more and more appearances throughout the year does not make it lose its specialness.

On the contrary, it gives diners the chance to know more restaurants, more chefs, more dishes, thanks to prix fixe menus and special prices. And diners will get to know more dishes thanks to dineLA's first fall Restaurant Week, which is more like Restaurant Weeks. American Express and the LA Convention and Visitors Bureau are presenting (dineLA is a venture between Amex, LACVB and various LA eateries), and, as usual, many, many places will be involved. Some 175 restaurants signed on for the last Restaurant Week, so expect variety, quality, and choices. Many choices.

dineLA's first fall Restaurant Week takes place October 4th-9th and 11th-16th. We're thinking warmer autumn flavors, briskets, apples. Things with dumplings and woody herbs. Ginger, perhaps? Gingery beefy bites.

October, chop chop.
