Lunch Wars: City Talks Truck Parking

A dispute involving lunch trucks and restaurants on Wilshire Boulevard is on the city's plate

So many food trucks, so few parking spaces.

The issue is the subject on a city transportation panel meeting Wednesday. Motions were introduced by Councilman Tom LaBonge, whose district includes a stretch of Wilshire Boulevard that's usually packed with the catering trucks

Among the items up for discussion: specially designated food truck parking zones.

Another motion calls on city staff to prepare recommendations for "restricting catering trucks from parking at parking meters in commercially zoned areas."

The council discussion stems from the ongoing battle involving the trucks and restaurants in the 5700 block of Wilshire.
