LA Live Marriott Opens Its Doors

Newest hotel in downtown Los Angeles is now open

The curtain's gone up on the newest luxury hotel in Los Angeles: the JW Marriott at LA Live.

The hotel is in a 54-story tower, which will share space with the 123-room Ritz Carlton and the uber-luxurious Ritz Carlton Residences that are still being prepared.

The hotel and condominium tower is owned by AEG -- developer of LA Live and the Staples Center.

The JW Marriott Hotel features 826 rooms and 52 suites on 21 floors. It opened its doors to the public Monday and was sold out.

It could be a case of location, location, location. It's just a block away from the Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center at 900 West Olympic Boulevard. Visitors to LA may want to take note of the address, since the Downtown Los Angeles Marriott Hotel is several blocks away and the similarity in names might be confusing.

Aside from state-of-the-art guest rooms, the new hotel also features five restaurants or lounges, a rooftop outdoor pool and bar, as well as a fitness center and spa. But considering the new hotel complex will be one of the tallest buildings in downtown, many visitors may just come to sample the view.
