Brit Super Shop Makes Its West Coast Bow

Superdry opens at the Beverly Center this week.

All of us should take a vow to never, ever stoke NY-LA competitiveness. Woody Allen and other wits did it first, and best, and anything any of us have to add to it in 2010 should sparkle with drollness and freshness and a dozen other -nesses.

But that bi-coastal competition seems to heat up whenever a store from another nation makes its U.S. debut in New York City. Suddenly, fashion-minded non-New-Yorkers are feeling envious and wanting the store in their own city. And the past has shown us that can take some time. Months? Maybe more.

Superdry, the British of-the-moment togs shop, is bucking that pattern and helping coastal relationships. It opened its first American store in New York last week, but rather than waiting weeks, months, years to hit the West Coast, store numero dos opens at the Beverly Center on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Then San Francisco. Then..?

We like this Vipers Belt Buckle. And anything with "rugged plaid," which Superdry has bunches of. And check out the lumberjack twill shirts.
