Vegemite may not be on the bill of fare at "A Taste of Australia," but other delicacies and wines will be. Maybe even Tim Tams?

Baz Luhrmann's sweeping "Australia" debuts next week, so we have just enough time to prepare in anticipation. Revisiting Baz's catalog is good (hello, "Moulin Rouge"), but revisiting your Australian history, cuisines and literature is also important. McCormick & Schmick's wants to assist with its special "A Taste of Australia" evening on Tuesday, November 18.

And while our friends in Oz are devoted to their Vegemite -- we once had a pal who slathered it on everything short of ice cream -- the culinary journey will focus on a variety of fine tastes and vintages (celebrity chefs have designed the menu, in fact). There will also be a travel overview of Down Under. When we think that they're in the midst of spring in Melbourne, we immediately think about packing and catching the next flight.

Now if we could only find Tim Tams, we'd be in heaven. We last saw 'em at the tea shop in Santa Monica, or maybe it was a Cost Plus? Is there anyone who can address this city's Tim-Tam shortage? We like to drink our milk through them, biting off opposite corners to create the straw. Scrummy. Do you think Hugh Jackman takes his Tim Tams the same way? We hope so.
