Tet Festival 2009 Welcomes a “Spring of Hope”

Welcome the Year of the Buffalo at the three-day Tet Festival, a traditional celebration centered around Garden Grove's Little Saigon at Garden Grove Park. Thousands attend this lively, event-packed, food-perfect weekend, for the tunes, the parades, and the amazing cuisine. Look for deliciousness like banh khot (small pancakes that are nearly impossible to stop eating once you start) and mut, which are tasty fruity bites (we're dreaming of something coconut-y, or a berry, to snack on throughout the day).

Gorgeous flower arranging contests are also a major part of the Tet Fest, which has a 2009 theme we can all embrace, especially this year: Spring of Hope. There is also a focus on the arts, with photography competitions, not to mention chess games, carnival rides, children's activities and the Miss Vietnam of Southern California pageant. Firecrackers and a remember-the-camera lion dance are also on the schedule.

In fact, so much is on the schedule that attendees plan ahead to make sure they get to do and see everything they want. Oh, and come famished. Like we said, delicious small pancakes made for snacking...
