Cannes Announces 2011 Slate, “The Beaver” a Surprise Addition

Who's happier than Mel Gibson about today's announcement that "The Beaver" is being shown at this year's Cannes Film Festival?

The full list of film's was announced this morning, and Gibson's "The Beaver," directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster, will be shown alongside the latest from the likes of Terrence Malick, Pedro Almodovar, Woody Allen, Lars Von Triers and Gus Van Sant.

But the name that caught us most off guard is Nicholas Winding Refn, whose film "Drive," starring Ryan Gosling as a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway drive. We've been waiting for what seems like an eternity for this one.
