Check Out the “Dragon Tattoo” Trailer Before Some Lawyer Takes It Down

Over the holiday weekend, the red-band trailer for David Fincher's American version of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" debuted in theaters. As will happen sometimes, some devilish scofflaw recorded it using a smart phone or some such thing and posted it online.

We can't won't post it here because, well, it's a pirated piece of video and it's got a brief moment of nudity, but it's there for the viewing on YouTube and it looks fantastic, propelled by Trent Reznor and Karen O's cover of "The Immigrant Song."

It's surprising that the clip has survived this long online, making us think that Columbia Studios is either behind or quietly thrilled that it's out there. Either, smart move on their part. A similar thing happened last summer with the "Super 8" trailer and it set all our togues wagging for a week solid.

Fincher's version stars Rooney Mara ("The Social Network") as "The Girl," and Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, the unlikely duo on the trail of a serial killer. The cast also includes Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright, Goran Visnjic and Christopher Plummer.

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" opens Dec. 21.
