“DWTS” Host Stunned Audrina's Gone; Happy Show's Unpredictable

One “Dancing With the Stars” sex symbol sympathizes with another’s elimination – but knows it’s great for the show.

“DWTS” host Brooke Burke may have found this week’s ousting of Audrina Patridge, and one of the competition’s seeming frontrunners, “shocking,” but she admits it’s also part of why she loves the show’s eleventh season.

“I love what they’re doing, and I think this is a shocking season,” Burke told PopcornBiz while promoting the new home workout video game our Shape Fitness Evolved on Thursday. “I could NOT believe Jennifer [Grey] and Audrina were up there in the bottom two this week, and I thought it was going to be Jennifer and Derek going home. I can’t even believe it. It just goes to show people that they have to vote – they just can’t sit back and watch the show.

“And I do not know who will go to the semifinals, which is crazy! I do not know who our final three will be. And every two weeks, our opinion changes. Every Tuesday I ask everybody – the crew, the producers – who’s not going to here next week, and everybody has a different answer. And that is why I love this season!”

Burke’s also stoked about next week’s 200th episode celebration, which will have the contenders recreating famous dances from past seasons, under the watchful eye of former celebrity cast members Helio Castroneves, Kelly Osbourne, Emmitt Smith, Drew Lachey, Mel B., Gilles Marini, Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Ohno. The episode will also feature performances by Taylor Swift, Rod Stewart and the cast of Disney’s Broadway production of “Mary Poppins.”

“We’re really excited about this week,” said Burke. “I think it’s pretty incredible to have an opportunity to be judged by those celebrities who made those dances famous. It’s going to be a lot of pressure on the celebrities and a lot of pressure on the pros, because some of their choreography is going to be compared, pound for pound, to what was conquered in the past. But it’s also going to be really exciting to have everybody back in the ballroom – it’s an honor for me to be in there hosting.”
