Who needs publicists when you have the Internet? Avoiding the normal route of a press release, Zach Braff announced the end of beloved television show "Scrubs" through Facebook yesterday.
Zach's status on Facebook yesterday shook the television world: “Many of you have asked, so here it is: it appears that ‘New Scrubs,’ ‘Scrubs 2.0,’ ‘Scrubs with new kids,’ ‘Scrubbier,’ ‘Scrubs without JD" is no more. It was worth a try, but alas... it didn't work. zb’
In an effort to inject new vitality into the show, younger cast members were added and regulars like Braff starred in only a handful
of episodes for the past two seasons. While a representative for ABC said no official decision has been made according to the The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s weak ratings have little to offer in light of new hits on the network like “Modern Family.”
The medical comedy marked Braff’s big Hollywood break and, fittingly, the actor will direct several episodes of what appears to be the final season including its one-hundredth entitled, “My Way Home.”
Despite this end of an era, the Jersey boy isn’t packing his bags just yet. He will finally be able to return to his next directorial effort
Open Hearts which had been put in a holding pattern after Scrubs was renewed. Even better: he announced in July that he was working on a script called “Swingles” that has him starring alongside Cameron Diaz.
