When I was a kid, the Russians were old guys in ill-fitting suits. Not so much anymore. They're young women who love gadgets -- especially Apple gadgets. (You know you're a technology reporter when you notice the gadgets.)
The ad, posted to a Russian politician's blog, appears to be in support of Vladimir Putin's possible campaign to be Russian president once again. In it, a young woman talks on her iPhone while carrying an iPad to meet her friends -- who are using a MacBook. Putin may be coat-tailing on Apple's ubiquitous popularity and aspirational price points.
And this comes not long after the Pope used an iPad to make his first tweet.
Apple, you are everywhere.
