Google Is Hiring a Few Good Doodlers

One of the country's best places to work is looking for a few good doodlers.

Google is hiring artists to draw its infamous doodles that take over its front page for special occasions.

The Mountain View-based search company posted a job opening for an arist who can:

  • Draw, design, and/or animate the highly visible Google homepage doodles.
  • Come up with consistently excellent creative ideas within the constraints of the our logo.
  • Manage complex collaborative projects from idea, to executive pitches, to final execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Design illustrations both digitally and traditionally and in a wide range of artistic styles with great attention to detail.

Interested artists are required to have a BFA or four years of relevant experience. Google would prefer if those artists also had:

  • Freehand illustration skills and a wide range of artistic styles.
  • Ability to translate conceptual direction into amazing works of art.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and apply creative feedback in a team environment.
  • Comfort with digital and traditional media.
  • Knowledge of animation fundamentals.
  • Online portfolio/reel.

Google Doodles have become infamous over the years for their ingenuity and at times the political message hidden behind the art.

The company's artists have drawn illustrations for everything from Heinrich Rudolf Hertz's 155th birthday to National Children's Day to a SOPA protest.
