Google will maintain its near-ubiquity with a new deal to stay the default search in Mozilla's Firefox browser.
The deal, announced today on the official Mozilla blog, is characterized as "a significant and mutually beneficial revenue agreement" (aren't those the best kind of agreements, really?) and will last for at least the next three years. Other details of the deal were not disclosed.
Firefox is a free, open-source web browser from Mozilla. It's one of the most popular browsers out there and is the most standards-compliant browser available, according to w3schools.com.
The most recent statistics show Firefox is used by 38.1 percent of internet users, with Google's Chrome gaining on Firefox with 33.4 percent. Chrome is growing as Firefox declines.
