Heat Defeat Mavericks (for Google Searches)

The NBA Finals rematch of the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat has garnered about twice the attention more this time than in 2006, according to Google's Insights for Search tool.

The spike in overall search traffic for the Miami Heat is also about double the volume of the Mavs, but the consolation of a championship trophy probably eases the pain for Dallas.

The most popular player searches are pretty predictable, too, with Dirk Nowitzki as the most popular Mav and LeBron James outshining the rest of the Miami Heat. Overall, 17-year veteran and first-time champion Jason Kidd is outpacing all the players, though.

Nowitzki is also doing well in his native Germany, while King James is doing well in his former city of Cleveland. (Hey, haters' traffic counts, too.)

Drilling down a little further, Google's official blog put the Mavericks to the ultimate test: How does the team fare against barbecue searches in Dallas.

That's right, the Mavericks have overtaken King James' talents as well as Texas' brightest food star.
Heady times, indeed, in the Lone Star State.
