Lady Gaga, not only a pop megastar but also a tech early adopter, is now in beta launch of a new social network.

The site, LittleMonsters.com, is pitched as part Pinterest, part Reddit, and all Gaga, was created by Palo Alto-based startup Backplane. Users can share all things Gaga and interact with fellow Gaga fans, known as "little monsters."  (Paws up!) Although the site is currently in a closed launch, you can request an invitation to join the network.

“Backplane is about bringing together communities and Gaga’s community just so happens to be the community we’re using to learn about proper functionality,” chief executive and founder Matt Michelsen told Mashable.“We think we can really change the world.”

Backplane's goals are to "unite people around interests, affinities and movements." Backplane has some tech cred with its founders working at Google, Palantir Technologies and Yahoo. Then there's Lady Gaga's manager Troy Carter, who's also a founder (Lady Gaga is also partially funding the startup.)

So far the social network, now about a month old, has given out 10,000 codes and Backplane intends on creating more sites and communities in the coming year.

Lady Gaga has been one of the most tech-savvy entertainers to date, including promoting her album "Born This Way" on Farmville, headlining a commercial for Google Chrome and being a fixture on Facebook and Twitter. It's not surprising she would invest in a tech company that would create her own social network and online community. In fact, other celebrities are bound to follow her lead.
