Google chief Larry Page is recovering and getting his voice back, a Google executive reported.

Eric Schmidt, Google's executive chairman, told reporters that Page is recovering from an illness that caused him to lose his voice and was in the office this week, Reuters reported.

Page has been out of the limelight for a while now. Schmidt told shareholders that Page's absence was the result of illness and the loss of his voice. However, no other details were forthcoming, causing many to start to speculate about Page's condition.

Schmidt, who was at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho on Thursday, again didn't go into details about Page's health.

"He's still recovering. Larry is doing much better. He was in the office on Monday," Schmidt told Reuters. "Larry ran the meeting. He is talking, but talking softly."

Page isn't expected to be part of Google's earnings call next week and this may not bode well for analysts and shareholders. The last time Page even did a drop-in on an earnings call, Wall Street analysts gave him a very hard time. We can only guess how bad it will be when Page doesn't appear at all.
