Microsoft Preparing Apple iPad Office App: Report

Microsoft's presence on Apple's iPad doesn't go deeper than a Bing.

But that could soon change with a bang for fans of Microsoft Office.

The once bitter Apple rival reportedly is preparing a version of its popular Microsoft Office software suite for the popular tablet computer, according to the iPad only digital paper the Daily.

"With the iPad making up over 80 percent of the tablet market and millions of people worldwide using Office, that could mean big bucks for the tech giant based in Redmond, Wash.," Daily writer Matt Hickey wrote in his report. "In addition to an iPad-ready version, a new edition of Office is expected for OS X Lion sometime next year."

Apple has its own competitors for Office available and others have made version of Google Docs available for the iPad.

But with both Windows and Office due for an update in the coming year, an Office iPad app could be coming soon.
