No Macworld/iWorld in 2015

Just short of its 30th anniversary, IDG World Expo announced it was canceling its tradeshow Macworld/iWorld event for 2015.

From the announcement:

We are announcing today that Macworld/iWorld is going on hiatus, and will not be taking place as planned in 2015. Our MacIT event, the world’s premiere event for deploying Apple in the enterprise, will continue next year with details to be announced in the coming weeks.

IDG World Expo continued the statement saying that it had started Macworld events in 1985, but as devices have changed "so has the marketplace" and that it was "proud" to have been part of it. "We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Apple community for allowing us to host these events and be a part of the incredible story that is the Apple market," the statement said.

IDG World Expo said it would  continue its MacIT event for enterprise and doesn't see that stopping in the foreseeable future.

Apple cut its ties with the event in 2009 which hurt the tradeshow, according to 9to5Mac. The magazine, Macworld, also recently cut staff and is no longer printing issues.
