Tim Cook: Apple's Biggest Rival is Google

Apple chief Tim Cook said in an interview that the company's biggest rival is Google and that it took year to create a larger iPhone.

Cook appeared on Charlie Rose and said that Apple took years to create a bigger iPhone, according to The Verge. "We could have done a larger iPhone years ago," Cook said in the interview that aired Friday on PBS. "It's never been about just making a larger phone ... it's been about making a better phone in every single way. And so we ship things when they're ready, and we think that both the display technology here, the battery technology, but all — but everything else and the software."

When questioned about Apple rivals and its legal skirmishes with Samsung, Cook said he didn't consider Samsung a rival, only Google which created the Android platform that Samsung uses. Cook also downplayed Amazon devices and any ideas that Apple wants to purchase the elite social networking site Path.

"(Apple has) no plans to be in the social networking area," Cook said.

Cook was still secretive about most of Apple's plans, only saying that it was working on amazing projects that have yet to be rumored to be in existence. I suppose we shall see what those might be, but we will be willing to bet there will be more wearables to come.
