Uber Starts Lunch Delivery Company uberFRESH

Uber, the ride-sharing app, is now developing a lunch delivery service to expand its business.

The uberFRESH service is being tested in Santa Monica, Calif. where it runs between 11:30 a.m and 2:30 p.m. and offers a $12 daily menu, according to TechCrunch. Users can use uberFRESH in the Uber app (a toggle on the far right, TechCrunch says) on weekdays until Sept. 5 when the pilot program ends. There's no word on whether there will be more test markets, but we figure it's likely.

Uber is saying that delivery will be around 10 minutes and happen outside on the curb. There's no door-to-door delivery and the driver will stay in his or her vehicle and wait for users to come get the delivery. No tip is required. Uber is also testing Uber Corner Store, which is being carefully monitored in the District of Columbia, and delivers "corner store items" to customers.

Uber's new rivals include messenger startups and those offering lunch delivery, and so far the startup looks ready to crush any competition. Uber also has the money, it's now valued at $18 billion, to do it.
