iCloud Helps Nab Redwood City iPad Thieves

Apple's iCloud strikes again.

While Apple's cloud-based storage solution has been met with mixed reviews since it launched last October, the service has developed a track record for busting alleged criminals.

The latest lesson served on a cloud was delivered to two Redwood City teenagers who were arrested Wednesday after an iPad stolen last month from a home on Dabury Lane automatically uploaded images of the two online.

A GPS-tracking app installed on the tablet led police to an apartment where the teens were staying.

Officers identified a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl in the apartment but they did not find the iPad. Instead they found the two teenagers with cash that is believed to have come from selling the iPad.

The two confessed to stealing the iPad and they also admitted to being behind another home burglary.
