Women at the Top at Facebook

More women wanted for top jobs in Silicon Valley

Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, and Sheryl Sandberg are just some of the notable female tech titans in Silicon Valley.  But when it comes to board rooms, women have very few seats at the table.

Jocelyn Goldfein is part of an elite class of tech engineers.

"I thing when girls look in the room, they see a lot of guys and not too many women and they say that room is not for me," she said.

Goldfein is a software designer and director of engineering at Facebook.

She says the only thing she doesn't love about her job is that many times, she is the only woman in the room.

She says she loves her job and would like to see more woman seek careers in technology.

Goldfein says women have built more at Facebook in terms of coding.  A lot of people don't know, when you click on a picture, it pops up in a photo viewer.  Goldfein says a women built that along with the news display.

According to the Anita Borg Institute for women, women make up 48-percent of the entire workforce. But when it comes to science, tech and engineering, women only hold 24-percent of those jobs.
