The Lakers were basically run off the court in Denver Monday night, inspiring critics to blame the team's age for its miserable performance. But that isn't news to anyone who's been paying attention, Fred Roggin says in the Feb. 25, 2013, edition of Roggin's Rants.

The Lakers were basically run off the court in Denver Monday night, inspiring critics to blame the team’s age for its miserable performance.

"Athletically, the Lakers just don’t have the ability to play against younger, fresher teams," they say.

Seriously?

We’ve known this from the beginning of the season; this is not a shock to anyone.

I have a feeling the Lakers’ struggle against athletic teams is going to continue the rest of the way.

Best case scenario: they make the playoffs and they play a half-court offense. Like I’ve said before, the Lakers have a better chance of winning when they slow down the game.

That’s their best bet, because against a more athletic team, the Lakers don’t stand a chance.
