A Big Flouncy-Flounce Costume

We're making for Western Costume for our Halloween '09 outfit.
We've been struggling. Like you. What should we do for a costume this year? Too often we take the easy route. Some putty on the face, with a scar. And no one, at the party, says we look fabulous. They think, there's a person who didn't care.
And they're right.
So this year we want something flouncy. With frills and frippery. A giant hat covered in a thousand sequins? Def. If it makes us look like we just stepped out of some grand Venetian palace, or off a Johnny Depp-y pirate ship, we're wheezing and huffing our way into it.
Stop one: Western Costume in North Hollywood. These people have been in the movie costume business for, oh. Wait for it. Since film practically began. And the shop is famously huge, with many try-on things.
