Oscar Host Brush-Up
Since the one-two Alec Baldwin-Steve Martin Oscar-hosting ka-pow is the entertainment news of the night, we wanted to spotlight a book that elegantly highlighted the ups and downs and all-arounds of being an Academy Awards host.
It's by Steve Pond, it's called "The Big Show: High Times and Dirty Dealings Backstage at the Academy Awards" and it is dishy, like a fancy dish at the Governor's Ball dishy. But dishy in a good way, if that makes sense; an educational dishy. Mr. Pond knows heaps about the show, and the history of the show, and the parade of hosts, and all the in-the-wings drama.
Oscar fans, read this now, before the craze of catching up on all ten Best Picture nominees is your trade. We just hope some author -- maybe even Mr. Pond -- is currently writing about the coming-together of the 2010 show and the dynamic duo that'll be taking centerstage. Riveting stuff for the industry follower.
