California Wine Month, Temecula-Style

SIP Temecula

Temecula will celebrate California Wine Month all throughout September 2012 via its SIP Passport.

SPOILER ALERT: The month of September tends to be, how shall we say, a rather hectic stretch for our state's wineries. It's harvest time, meaning that a lot of the activities that go into wine-making are happening all at once. This has a few side effects. One? People want to visit vineyards during this time. The heat is slackening and there's a lot to see; some places might even put out a half-barrel or two of wines for visitors to crush. And two? There are deals and giveaways to be found throughout the Golden State's various wine countries. That's the part we really do love; this could be the time of year when the deals are scarce, but they aren't. And, in that spirit, we'd like to cast a sip-worthy spotlight on...

TEMECULA WINE COUNTRY: To celebrate California Wine Month, the wineries up and down Rancho California Road and its nearby environs will get together and support the SIP Passport. The upshot? Spend fifty bucks and pick five wineries to visit from Sept. 1 through 30, 2012. That's a good deal, and you also score a stemless wine glass. Oh, and the SIP Passport works on weekends, too, so hooray that.

SIP & STAY: A number of area hotels and inns will also offer discounts and deals that are tied to the SIP Passport and California Wine Month. Want to bed down at South Coast Resort Winery & Spa or Temecula Creek Inn for the night, instead of making the trek home (or having your designated driver do so)? Check out who is offering what. Ohhh yeah, it's harvest time all right.
