Family Winemakers Del Mar Day

CALIFORNIA WINE: Yep, we're sometimes called "The Grape State" -- so often, in fact, that the nickname just featured as a "Jeopardy" question -- but that doesn't mean that all wineries are known and loved by all wine enjoyers. The Family Winemakers of California is a consortium of vino producers devoted to supporting the smaller and more boutique labels of our state. And a couple of times a year the group puts on a public tasting. Lucky for libation lovers one such tasting is just around the corner.

DEL MAR DAY: On Sunday, March 13, the Family Winemakers will hold a public tasting (which follows a trade-only tasting, note). It's at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and oenophiles should also take note that the next public tasting won't be until August, in San Francisco. The group visits Pasadena on Tuesday, March 15, but that's only open to trade, so get out to Del Mar if you're keen to try new wines. An at-the-door ticket at the fairgrounds is $65.
