FilmOut San Diego

THE TWO-WEEKEND FEST: Cheers to you, FilmOut San Diego. We like your slate of intriguing and romantic and challenging gay and lesbian features and shorts, for sure. But we also like that your annual festival essentially happens in two parts. Part one runs from Aug. 19 through 21, and the second half is on during the next weekend. Meaning that, say, if people from Los Angeles, or Riverside, or Ventura want to catch some films, but only have the weekends free, well. You're making everyone happy, or getting very close to doing so. So cheers again. Now, what will we watch?

DEFINITELY "ECUPID": Dear makers of "eCupid": You had us at Morgan Fairchild, who is billed as a "wise and mysterious waitress" in the comedy (the gentlemen playing Gabe and Marshall are adorable, too, no doubt). Put us down in the "all about seeing that" column. It's playing on Saturday, Aug. 20. But the entire fest boasts a great slate, and a viewer can certainly stay busy both weekends, so check it all out. Birch Park North Theatre is the fest's HQ. Single tickets are in the $5 to $10 range.
