FOOL'S DELIGHT: There are several things to take a shine to at the Artiste Winery Fool's in Love party, which is happening on Saturday, April 2. One, it is sort of a belated April Fool's Day celebration, but without the prankery that is synonymous with holiday. In prankery's place will be an art show, and port tasting, and the consuming of chocolate, and a convivial afternoon spent at a pretty Los Olivos winery. Oh, and did we mention the face-painting?
THE FACE-PAINTING: The main eye-catcher of the Fools in Love celebration is that it is 21+ -- no surprise, given its location -- and it is offering face-painting. Which means that it'll be one of those rare moments when the grown-ups can queue for happy butterfly or flower. Honest now; when you see the face painter at the fair, don't you wish you could hop in line? Now's your chance, and your chance to drink port post-painting, too. Nice. Time's 1 to 5 p.m., get-in-the-door cost is $15.
