PHOTO STORY: It's been over a week since we last looked at it, but we still can't stop thinking about this fantastic snapshot of a long-ago plane taking wing near the Hotel del Coronado. A very, very long-ago plane. You get the feeling that there wasn't much around Coronado in those days, major-structure-wise. But the Del has one of those "always been here" auras for sure, and while that's not true, it has been on the island for a very long time. One hundred and twenty three years, to be exact, as of Sunday, Feb. 19.
HAPPY HOTEL BIRTHDAY: The Del published this early photo in honor of the day, and since it has already been established we're crazy for early Del photos, we wanted to share. If only we could sit in that wayback lobby, for an hour. If only we could pay $2.50 for a room, meals included. Oh time. Passing, etc. Happy 123, HDC!
