Mammoth: Kids Ski Free Through Season

The Sierra snow spot will stay open through the Fourth of July, and families with children ages 12 and under can save cash on a slopes-fun day.

THE FIRST OF MAY... may be focused on the making of flower crowns and petal-laden baskets, but, if you're some 11,000 feet up the side of a peak, it could very well be about snow, too. Mammoth Mountain schussed into May with some serious slope action, with few springtime buds to be seen (but many poles, skis, and goggles). The first of May is also when the bustling Sierra resort kicked off a deal that's sure to catch the eye of families hoping to put one more day in on the slopes (or a few). The headline? If your tot is 12 or under, and adores spending time geared-up for a frosty outing, they can ski for free for the remainder of the Mammoth season. And that's nothing to sniff at, thanks to the fact that the Mono County destination intends to stay open through the Fourth of July. But not only do the 12-and-unders ski for free, they...

RIDE FOR FREE... through Independence Day. One thing to note? The resort "(m)ay require proof for older children," so keep that in mind before you head up Highway 395. Another unrelated notion to chew on, although it is a bit related, given that it deals with the outdoors and under-the-sun pursuits? "Fishmas" kicked off in Mono and Inyo Counties on Saturday, April 29, if you and the fam want to make it a whirlwind cast-a-line, ski-a-slope kind of weekend.
