Old World Chocolate Festival

Old World Village is stowing the steins and lining up the candies.

OCTOBER TO FEBRUARY: Old World Village, in Huntington Beach? Yep, it is very known for its rollicking, Chicken Dance-laden Oktoberfests. There is much stein-raising and oompah-playing, and there are even a few Dachshund races to boot (or to paw). But the quaint clutch of buildings has a good handle on other holiday seasons as well, including the month of hearts. Old World is, in fact, celebrating Valentine's Day in 2012, and a bit early, too, on Saturday, Feb. 11 and Sunday, Feb. 12. Nope, the over-sized steins aren't out, nor are the kegs and lederhosen, but there will be several bottles of vino lined up, and lots of deep, dark, chocolate-y goodness. It's the two-day Old World Village Chocolate and Wine Festival.

TICKETS AND PURCHASE: It's free to get into the festival. Treats and candies will be available from various vendors for purchase. And in the wine garden? A one-dollar ticket gets you a sample (a good deal: Buy 20 tickets for $15). They'll also be doing the $5-a-glass thing, too, if you see your favorite label and just want to stick with that. Yep, Old World'll be back at the Oktoberfesting before we know it, but maybe Valentine's will become one of its signature holidays as well.
