A DASH OF FA LA LA: There are several places around Southern California that stay pretty Christmassy throughout the year. Ice rinks keep it cold and doll shops keep it charming and ornament stores play carols even in the springtime. But no one place can assume an authentic air of end-of-the-year yuletide-ness like Disneyland. Even on the warmest July day you'll still find fudge and old-timey Victorian tunes and fancy hats and other signifiers of the Christmas season. Truth? It's where the quaintness of the holidays lives all year-round (and you thought the address for all things quaint was the North Pole). Thus when the actual holiday season is on approach, it can rather make one's jaw drop, a little, to see Disneyland and Disney California Adventure transform as they do. It isn't merely the boughs hanging from the lampposts, although those are plentiful, or the massive, reaching-for-the-ceiling tree in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel. Rather, we think if a Disney holiday as a) in the details and b) in the activities and special events. And, lo and behold and bibbidi bobbidi boo, those events are set to start on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
THEY'll INCLUDE... a new take on World of Color, the splashy water show at California Adventure. A new take on the Mad T Party, which is also in California Adventure, and visits with Santa over at Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland. Plus? Sleeping Beauty's Castle shall once again be done up in all sorts of icy glittery light goodness. Question: Do you take a photo of the castle straight during the holidays, or do you go for a moat reflection? Both produce great snapshots. For more on the upcoming celebrations, which run fron Nov. 12 through Jan. 6, best fa la la this way...
