Taste of the South Bay

Nosh among the LA Kings at a feasty fundraiser in Redondo Beach.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY... is typically full of raise-the-glass, raise-the-fork opportunities, but not all festivities on March 17 are solely built around the holiday. There are a few fun times that crop up on that particular that take a different route to socializing, supping, sipping, and enjoying a Friday night (which March 17 is, in 2017, let it be known). For example, if you're a fan of the LA Kings, and you happen to be in the vicinity of the Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach on Friday, March 17, and you do want to enjoy a bit of St. Patrick's-y doings, you could join Taste of the South Bay. It's a fundraiser for the Redondo Beach Police Foundation, and the funds raised are "...earmarked to purchase classroom emergency safety kits for all Redondo Beach public schools." A ticket? It's $100, which not only gets you into the bash, and among a number of Kings players in attendance (be sure to say hello), but you'll be able to try tidbits from eateries located around the South Bay.

WHAT RESTAURANTS WILL BE THERE? A few are already listed, including The Strand House and Paul Martin's American Grill (check it, too: Rock N Fish and Coni'Seafood are the roster, too). More venues will roll out as St. Patrick's Day grows closer. But should you wear green? Well, it's traditional on March 17, so find something a little fancy, in emerald or lime, before you saunter into the elegant, casual-dressy affair. It's an interesting combo of the night, with the Kings, helping the community, St. Patrick's Day, South Bay restaurants, and the swanky Shade Hotel all in the convivial, giveback, happy-holiday mix.
