CONSTELLATIONS AND LIBATIONS: The comparisons between sparkling wine and the seeing of stars have long been made, which makes their pairing a natural and good thing. The Julian Star Fest, which is located at the mountain town's Menghini Winery, is devoted to pointing telescopes toward the heavens. But we would certainly make time for the $5 Menghini tasting (it goes on every day). DARK SKIES: We don't get those much around Los Angeles, so heading down to the mountains northeast of San Diego is just the ticket. Plus, beautiful Julian. We'd go without the promise of cosmos and cabernet. But those two additions make the trip highly worthwhile. The 2010 Julian Star Fest is Thursday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 8.
